Astors pull off a bizarre Walk-Off win that would even surprise Game of Thrones fans.

The Houston Astros are no strangers to winning baseball games. The Astros won 101 games last season and won the world series. This is not their first rodeo. Surprisingly enough, Houston is on pace for even more wins this season. Wednesday’s victory will go down as their luckiest to date.

The Astros have relied on incredible starting pitching and a high powered offence to be one of if not the best team in the American League. However, the game last night had a little more magic than usual. Maybe it had something to do with the Game of Thrones characters scattered around the stadium.

Alex Bregman has been a considerable part of the Astros success this season. Jose Altuve has been good, not great and Carlos Correa has missed several weeks due to injury, it has been up to Bregman to pick up the slack. Bregman’s success this season was recognized by being named to his first All-Star team in his young career. At the spry age of 24, he has many good seasons ahead of him.

His game-winning hit against the A’s if that’s what you want to call it, had little to do with skill, however. The Astros fans were expecting some sort of fireworks from Alex, but I guarantee that no one expected this. After all, their All-Star third basemen had gone deep twice already in the game. Bregman’s “hit” in the 11th inning was just about the opposite of a home run.

With one out and runners on first and second, Alex Bregman hits a ball that travels about 4 feet. Looks to be an easy out and maybe even a double play. On the other hand, the A’s have one of the worst defensive catchers behind the plate in Johnathan Lucroy. Bregman manages to dodge the tag and Lucroy somehow drops the ball twice letting the runner try to run to first. The catcher picks the ball up and fires the ball to first for the easy out. When the ball got to first base, Bregman’s head was also there. The ball deflects off his head and the winning run scores.

It has to be the luckiest plays to win a game in recent memory. For the Astros, it couldn’t have come at a better time. The bizarre play ensured that the surging A’s did not sweep the Astros.
